The Baltimore Aquarium is the Baltimore location of the National Aquarium. The Baltimore location and its sister Washington, D.C. National Aquarium location are both non-profit organizations. They exist to raise awareness of aquatic life and the conservation of aquatic life. They do not house only aquatic animals, either. They also have birds, reptiles and mammals.
The National Aquarium in Baltimore has more than 600 species of animals within its walls. They have everything from the cute, such as puffins, to the dangers, such as poison dart frogs. They have pythons, sloths, alligators, dolphins, sharks and much more. Their animal enclosures are safe and the organization is committed to keeping these animals happy while they educate visitors on the importance of these creatures.
The animals are amazing for both adults and children. There are areas that are as colorful as a coral reef in the middle of the ocean. There are places to gaze at peaceful land creatures as they meander about their daily activities. There is a shark walk where visitors can literally walk through a tank teeming with sharks. There is a tropical rainforest exhibit, a jellyfish exhibit and educational films. Visitors can see the creatures of Australia and even see a giant sea turtle. This is where education meets wonder and entire families can have a great time. Schools can even host field trips at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
The absolute best experiences to have at the Baltimore National Aquarium are their immersion tours. Because they are so dedicated to education, they open their doors for all kinds of interactive experiences. Visitors can visit the dolphins in the morning and watch them work with their trainers. Visitors can have a tour with the sharks' caretakers and get very close. To top it all off, it is possible to do sleepovers at the aquarium with either the sharks or the dolphins. These experiences are very memorable. This aquarium is giving people of all ages experiences that would be impossible in the wild and trying to give the species within it a chance for the future.
